Editorial Policy

This policy sets out the standards every GamblingZine article must meet before it is published, and how our AI-assisted newsroom is kept under human control.

Scope and purpose

GamblingZine covers the international gambling and iGaming industry: regulation and compliance, online casino and gaming, sports betting, business and finance, mergers and acquisitions, technology, payments, player protection, markets and regions, and land-based casinos and resorts. Our aim is accurate, useful, well-sourced reporting — not volume. A smaller number of articles that readers can rely on is always preferred over more articles of lower quality.

Sources and evidence

  • Reporting is based on primary sources (regulators, courts, companies’ own statements and filings, official data) and established independent reporting. Every factual claim in an article is tied to a specific source in our evidence record, with the time it was retrieved.
  • Sensitive claims — enforcement actions, allegations, financial figures, legal outcomes and comparable matters — require an official primary source or corroboration from independent sources. Where that cannot be established, the claim is excluded or the story is held for human review.
  • Where a single authoritative source supports a story, we say what it is and report proportionately rather than extrapolating.
  • Each published article lists its sources.

AI assistance and human responsibility

  • GamblingZine uses AI systems to help discover candidate stories, assemble research, draft articles from supported claims, check claims against evidence and prepare metadata. These systems operate inside fixed rules: they cannot introduce facts not present in the evidence record, and they cannot publish.
  • Every article is reviewed by a human editor and published only after explicit human approval. The Editorial Lead, Sven Karlsson, is responsible for editorial standards and for what GamblingZine publishes.
  • Articles produced through this process carry the GamblingZine Editorial Team byline and a visible disclosure that they were produced with AI assistance and reviewed under this policy. We do not attribute AI-assisted articles to invented individual authors, and we do not claim credentials or experience that do not exist.

Editorial analysis and opinion

Analysis and opinion pieces are clearly labelled and kept visually and editorially distinct from news reporting. They must distinguish facts, interpretation, forecasts and editorial judgement; provide traceable sources for factual claims; and receive explicit human review of both their factual accuracy and their argument. No analysis or opinion is published automatically.

Independence

  • Editorial decisions are made independently of operators, suppliers, regulators, investors and advertisers. Coverage is not sold, and no party outside the newsroom approves or vetoes articles.
  • Any commercial relationship that could reasonably be seen to affect a piece of coverage is disclosed in that piece.

Fairness and accuracy

  • We report what the evidence supports and attribute what we cannot independently establish.
  • Headlines must be supported by the article. We do not imply urgency, recency or certainty that the sources do not support.
  • Where a story concerns allegations against an identifiable person or company, we reflect their response where one is available and make clear what has and has not been established.

Corrections

Errors are corrected openly under our Corrections Policy.

Responsible gambling

We report on gambling; we do not promote it. Articles about products and markets do not carry inducements to gamble, and we signpost support for anyone affected by gambling harm on our Responsible Gambling page.

Contact and complaints
