Portugal launches casino tender


A public tender for two land-based casino licences has been announced by the Portuguese national gaming authority, Serviços de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos (SRIJ), with the current licences for Casino Estoril and Casino Figueira due to expire at the end of this year.

Operators wishing to apply must be a public limited company and have offices in an EU or European Economic Area country that participates in anti-money laundering, fraud and tax administrative cooperation agreements.

Casino Estoril is currently operated by Sociedade de Turismo e Diversões de Macau, owner of Macau casino operator, SJM. Casino Figueira is currently operated by a Portuguese timber company called Amorim.
