Betfred Sports has announced an agreement with Long Shots of Frederick, Maryland, to bring retail and online sports betting to Maryland, pending regulatory approval.
A temporary retail sportsbook will be adjacent to the Maryland Jockey Club’s off-track betting, within Long Shots, for the 2022 football season. A permanent, 8,800sqft, state-of-the-art sportsbook with video wall and theatre-style seating will open in the immediate New Year. Online betting will be launched when formally allowed by state regulators.
Long Shots’ CEO, Alyse Cohen, declared: “We were at the forefront of bringing sports betting to Maryland and specifically to Frederick. We are thrilled to open a sportsbook at Long Shots in partnership with Betfred Sports, and proud that Long Shots is one of the premier off-track betting locations in the state. We look forward to achieving similar success with sports wagering.”
SCCG Management represented Betfred Sports in this deal. Previous agreements, also represented by SCCG Management on behalf of Betfred Sports, include Wind Creek in Bethlehem, We-Ko-Pa in Arizona, Virgin Mohegan Sun in Las Vegas and Saratoga in Black Hawk.
Bryan Bennett, Betfred Sports Chief Operating Officer, stated: “We identified Long Shots very early when searching for a Maryland partner. When combining Betfred’s 50 years of bookmaking experience and Long Shots’ success with off-track betting, we believe this will be a formidable partnership to compete in the Maryland sports betting space.”
